What a surprise in the free newspaper “20 Minutes” (Switzerland) this morning: they wrote something about a Facebook group (i am a member among more than 19 000 others) : “Comite de Lutte contre l’union du SLIM, de la TECKTONIK & de la COUPE MULET” (Comitee against SLIM, TECKTONIK and Coupe mulet)
For people who don’t know the Tecktonik movement (coming from Belgique around 2000, having already a great success in France, and recently introduced in Switzerland), check the plethora of videos on YouTube and Dailymotion to see this in action.
SLIM is a term used for jeans that stick to the legs. Here are some pictures:
Finally for ‘Coupe Mulet’ , please check these photos to have an idea :
Here is an alternative in Hollywood :
Finally the Tecktonik version:
For the Tecktonik, as said Marie (who initiated the comitee anti Tecktonik on Facebook) : “What will become our children if we let set up such an infamy of the taste”
I have the same fear for the next generations. Are jazz, blues, Rock’n Roll, pop not better heritages from the past? Imagine what could happen in the future if the Tecktonik movement becomes popular on the whole planet.
If you aren’t fond of Tecktonik, feel free to join Facebook, then the comitee anti Tecktonik…
As the Tecktonik adepts all have a group suffixed by “tek”, mine would be : “Asustek”

It does not matter how children express themselves. Anyway, if it is too “hard” to you to see this new way of living and having fun, just say to yourself Fashion is short-lived. It will not last. Or if it lasts, the problem is elsewhere than just about wearing slim pants.
Tecktonik reminds me rock’n'roll in its time.

Yes there is something quite similar to punk attitude no
I understand children are looking for an identity, and it’s a means to express themselves.. but tell me what kind of identity you have in this movement which is a kind of patchwork itself.
Problem is not the Slim pants of course:
I spoke of the heritage from Jazz, rock, .. and it was musically speaking (richness left to future generation).
Of course, you could say also 25-30 years ago , was it a good exemple for children to follow some of their idols, who died around 30 years old because of drugs or alcohol…
But i’m not convinced Tecktonik is drugs free, and that adepts only drink RedBull

The Tecktonik fashion is not an incitation to drugs or alcohol AT ALL.
In a way, it is rather a peaceful mean of expression, in the age of the times…
In short, there is no incitation to drug, alcohol or violence…

Did i spoke about incitation? I just say Tecktonik is not better than other movements (drugs and alcohol is also associated to the world of Rock n Roll isn’t it?)…
And there are better means of expression than Tecktonik i think…

You’re right but there are means of expression and way of life for everyone. Every path is different. We can only be a judge for ourself.

Tecktonik is quite good because it let teenage to involve in social activities and to express themselves in an other way than burning cars and killing each other.
And I am also a bit fan of the music, even if I will continue my old style moving (I could not say dancing ^^) on it

@nevermind Don’t be so extremist. I know alchohol / drugs are not better, but your comparison is not so good.
I speak about music, dance and fashion : for me, this movement is a ridiculous patchwork of what exists or hast existed in the past.
I think it’s a conflict between generations (i’m 37y old).
More than 15 years ago, it was already the case with new wave, alternative rock and punk rock.
It’s right that if young people find satisfaction in tecknotik, it can be good for them, and better than doing nothing in the day.
